Kala Namak - Black Salt - Ali Baba

Black Salt , also known as Kala Namak , is a mineral salt native to the Indian subcontinent, prized for its distinctive flavour with sulphurous and slightly smoky notes .
Its dark hue, which varies from purple to grey, is due to the natural presence of minerals such as iron and sulphur.
In Indian cuisine it is used to flavour chaat, raita, chutney, fruit and vegetable dishes .
Thanks to its unique aroma , black salt is also much loved in vegan cuisine, where it is used to recreate the flavour of eggs in dishes such as scrambled tofu .
